KidZone:  Easter Creative Writing Prompts

© Contributed by Leanne Guenther

Introduction:

These creative writing prompts are a fun Easter activity.  I like to instroduce them on April 10th which is "National Encourage a Young Writer Day" and usually falls sometime near Easter each year.

Each worksheet provides a different inspiration to help spark a child's creative writing.

Printable Templates:

Word Wall Words:

Print four Easter word wall words and use one of the words in a sentence.

You can use my Easter word wall word templates to go with this activity.

Draw and Write:

Write a story and draw a picture inspired by the writing prompt:

"What is your favorite Easter tradition?"

You may wish to provide additional Lined Paper.

Informational Writing:

First, Next, Then, Last

Use these words to create an informational writing short manual.

"How to decorate an Easter egg."

Writing Prompt 1:

"If the Easter bunny got sick, who would he ask to help bring treats for Easter?"

Distribute the worksheet and encourage the children to complete the story.

Writing Prompt 2:

"A little mouse watched as Jesus sat at the table with his friends and shared a meal. The mouse thought to herself…"

Distribute the worksheet and encourage the children to complete the story.

Writing Prompt 3:

"When I woke up on Easter morning, I saw..."

Distribute the worksheet and encourage the children to complete the story.
