Moose: General
Moose are a generalized species so they are able to adapt to various locations and climates.
A male moose is called a buck, a female moose is called a cow and a young moose is called a calf. Aside from mating and breeding, moose tend to live very solitary lives.
Moose are amazing swimmers (surprising considering how gigantic they are) and are actually born knowing how to swim! This means that moose spend lots of time in the water, which not only helps to keep them cool in the heat of summer but also helps prolong their life by easing their bones and joints.
The inuit name for the moose is tuktuvak. Many indigenous groups of North America hunt moose for the different ways of using the animals. Their meat is an amazing food source, especially considering the amount of meat a single moose can provide! Their hide can be used for clothing and their antlers and bones for different tools.
